Mayglothling Waste Ltd | Our Heritage
Mayglothling Waste started out from humble beginnings over 40 years ago, when John Mayglothling – the father of the present Managing Director, Jonathan, built a tank with a suction pump and fitted it to the back of an old farm vehicle. This was so he could clear some farmyard waste from the family’s Yaidon Farm, set above Kington in the beautiful hills of rural Herefordshire.
One of John’s neighbours, on seeing the wonderful contraption John had assembled, asked whether he thought this new wonder vehicle might be able to help in clearing an old, clogged septic tank of his. John warmed to the challenge, tried it out and after a successful afternoon’s work, a new business venture was born!
Nowadays, Mayglothling Waste regularly cleans septic tanks, clears drains, mends pumps and services all manner of liquid waste-related equipment and installations. Our gleaming white tankers are a local fixture as they wend through the country lanes to service over 10,000 customers, both residential and commercial, bringing much of the waste back for processing at the company’s own state-of-the-art sewage plant, based at Yaidon.
The business has certainly come a long way from John’s old tanker!

Mayglothling Waste has grown over the past four decades into one of the UK’s most trusted waste management companies, famous for our large fleet of gleaming white tankers. These are a frequently-spotted feature around the leafy lanes of Herefordshire, the Welsh borders and increasingly farther afield as the business continues to expand.
Here at Mayglothling, we continue to work in the best traditions of the values of innovation and service instilled by John all those years ago. Thankfully, in an age of accelerating change, some things can still be relied upon to stay the same.
