10 Minutes With… Vicky Sergeant

“I know what it’s like to feel taken for granted at work and I’ve never felt that here.  I feel valued and that what I say matters to people.  I have high standards and enjoy a challenge and want to support everyone around me to be the same.”

Vicky is our Office Manager.  In fast-moving office where incoming calls and changing schedules have to be juggled with long-term projects and ensuring best practice levels are met, how does she keep things running smoothly?  Find out here…

“I started here in summer 2021 after working for about ten years in the care sector.  After the strains of the pandemic on that industry, I was looking for a career change.

“Someone suggested I apply for a role here, so I did.  Even though all my experience has come from outside this industry, I’d always describe myself as someone who gets things done.  As I’d had a lot of experience of managing the change to electronic documentation, due to covid restrictions, I joined as Office Manager.

“I’ve always been thorough in what I do and the team here have helped me learn and understand the detail of all the things we do.

“In addition to my responsibility of managing the office, I’m often tasked with various ‘special projects’ – usually an in-depth, one-off piece of work that needs someone to be the main point of contact.

“Recently, I’ve co-ordinated the process of introducing new scheduling software, which will ensure our day’s jobs can be done more efficiently and with more accurate information.

“I like the importance that culture has at Mayglothling.  I know what it’s like to feel taken for granted at work and I’ve never felt that here.  I feel valued and that what I say matters to people.  I have high standards and enjoy a challenge and want to support everyone around me to be the same.

“I know how it feels to dread going to work and I love the fact that I look forward to every day.  We have a great vibe in the office and I believe it makes everything run more smoothly.”
