Bespoke EV Charger Installation, with Mayglothling

Many electric vehicle (EV) Owners seem to be expected to connect their vehicle to a lead running from their house or garage. It’s usually unsightly and often impractical. Our customer challenged us to ensure that their vehicle-charging was neither. Here’s what we did…

Project: Bespoke installation of a charging unit for an electric vehicle (EV)

System: EO charging unit

Location: Kington, Herefordshire

Benefits: The customer wanted a bespoke charging facility, suitable for the needs of the property, with ductwork and manholes for the cabling.

The Problem

A customer preparing their property for the arrival of a new electric vehicle, required charging facilities in their car parking area at home, which is 150m from the nearest electrical outlet.

It was also necessary to carry out the groundworks in a way that minimised their visual and environmental impact.

The Solution

Mayglothling install drains and manholes for the sewage systems, so we have all the key skills needed.  We also hold the specific certification to allow us to install EV charging facilities and are Approved Installers for EO chargers.

The job required a significant amount of trenches dug, straight across the customer’s lawn, which meant that care had to be taken to minimise damage to the grounds and to ensure the sire was returned to its previous state at the end of the project.

Outcome

The charging unites were installed, to the customer’s specifications, allowing a charging area that fits the needs of the property and sits well within its surroundings.

Three months after the groundworks on the lawn, the customer was pleased to confirm that it was “barely possible” to see where the trenches were dug.

The customer was also pleased with the choice of wooden posts to mount the charger, commenting that “we were keen that the installation should blend into our environment, very much in the countryside”.

Our technician also installed on a couple of solar charging lights, which the customer described as “excellent as no cables were required”, to give sufficient light for that area.

Whilst on site digging the trenches, the customer also asked if we could install a new water pipe, to enable a hosepipe stand in the car park area. We were happy to do this at the same time.

“We were thrilled to be asked to supply a resolution to our customer who was looking to make the transition to EV. We know they were initially put off by the complexities of the site and size of the task but this was not a big task for us. We carried out the work in three days and we are so pleased the site has recovered so well after a few months. We can provide solutions for one car or a fleet of vehicles. ”
