Waste Management Contractor Hereford Maintenance

Latest regulations for septic tanks and small sewage treatment plants.

Often overlooked or neglected is the fact that a septic system should have a regular check-up to prevent problems. Sign up to a Maintenance contract today to ensure your septic tank or small sewage treatment plant is compliant. You should have your septic system inspected every 1 to 2 years by a professional and your tank should be de-sludged when necessary. As of January 2015, you as a home or business owner are now responsible for the maintenance of your wastewater system under a new code of practice by the Environmental Agency.

If you have a septic tank or a small sewage plant, by law you must ensure it complies with the ‘general binding rules’ by ensuring your system is maintained properly and does not cause pollution.

Our Engineers will look after you:

  • Desludging
  • Servicing
  • Fault Finding
  • Repairs
  • Final Effluent monitoring
  • Pump station Wet Wells and Controls

Ask about our three star service contract to look after your sewerage works with fixed monthly payments.

If you have a Septic Tank that discharges directly to a watercourse you will need to replace it with a Sewage Treatment Plant by January 2020. If you sell your house before then you will need to resolve the issue prior to selling your house.
Discharges from Septic Tanks directly to surface water are not allowed under these rules.

Your Sewage System must meet the right standards.Must be correctly installed and have sufficient capacity for the number of people using it. Your Sewage system must be correctly maintained.
When Mayglothling empty or service you system we will leave a Waste Transfer note or an Engineers Report.
Please keep these documents so you can prove your system is maintained.

Waste Management Contractor Hereford We can help.

The septic tank traps the solids in the waste water and should be checked to determine whether or not it is time for it to be emptied out.

The manhole should be opened and the dip pipes should be checked to ensure that they are in good condition since the last check-up to avoid expensive repair bills.

The soakaway should be checked for sogginess or ponding, which indicates improper drainage, a blocked system, or excessive water use. The presence of damp or soggy areas or odours may indicate a leak in the system.

In some cases, if there is nowhere in the surrounding area to site a soakaway, it may not be possible to have a septic tank. In this case it may be necessary to have a cesspit – a holding tank for waste with no outlet. Large volumes will need to be emptied from these at regular intervals.

To give you one less thing to think about, we will get in touch to remind you when your septic tank is next scheduled to be emptied or serviced again.

Our 24-hour reaction service covers the whole of England and Wales, handling even the most difficult waste disposal situations.
